Mahopac Eighth Grade Ambassadors Welcome Future Middle School Students

Mahopac Middle School recently welcomed all district fifth graders for its annual Student Ambassador Tours, giving students an opportunity to become familiar with their future school before entering sixth grade next fall.

Led by eighth grade student ambassadors, the tours introduced students to key areas of the building, including classrooms, the science wing, library, cafeteria and music rooms. After exploring the school, students gathered in the gymnasium, where they heard from Principal Tom Cozzocrea and participated in a question-and-answer session with the ambassadors. Topics included homework expectations, transportation procedures, clubs and activities, athletics and available academic support.

“Our eighth grade ambassadors did an outstanding job serving as leaders and role models for our future students,” Principal Tom Cozzocrea said. “I am grateful for the way they stepped up to share their experiences, answer questions and help make our fifth graders feel welcome. We are excited to welcome these students to Mahopac Middle School next year and look forward to helping them make a successful transition.”

The annual tours are designed to help incoming sixth graders feel comfortable and confident as they prepare to begin the next chapter of their educational journey.
