BOCES Birds and Raptors

Second graders at Fulmar Road Elementary School recently took part in an engaging, hands-on learning experience through a Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES “Birds and Raptors” program.

During the visit, students explored the unique characteristics and adaptations that help birds survive in their environments. Using a variety of artifacts, including feathers, preserved bird specimens and field guides, students learned about features such as beaks, talons and plumage, and how each plays a role in a bird’s way of life.

The interactive program provided students with an up-close look at the natural world, helping to bring their science learning to life while sparking curiosity about wildlife and the environment.
